Strength exercise

Butt Kicks

How to do it

  1. Stand tall with feet hip width apart and arms bent at the elbows, ready to jog in place.
  2. Jog in place while kicking each heel up toward the glutes in quick alternating fashion.
  3. Keep the knees pointing down toward the floor rather than driving forward, isolating the hamstring curl motion behind the thigh.
  4. Land lightly on the balls of the feet, letting the quadriceps control the leg's return to the ground.
  5. Keep a quick, steady cadence and breathe rhythmically with each kick cycle.
  6. Avoid leaning the torso backward to compensate, a common fault that reduces the heel to glute range of motion.
