Strength exercise

Bicycle Crunch

How to do it

  1. Lie on the back with hands lightly cupped behind the head and knees lifted to a tabletop position.
  2. Lift the shoulder blades off the floor to start the movement.
  3. Brace the core and press the lower back toward the floor throughout the set.
  4. Rotate to bring one elbow toward the opposite knee while extending the other leg straight, driving the motion through the core in a smooth pedaling pattern.
  5. Exhale on each rotation toward the knee and inhale during the transition between sides.
  6. Avoid pulling on the neck with the hands instead of driving the rotation from the core.
