Strength exercise

Belt Squat

How to do it

  1. Fasten a weighted belt around your hips and stand on a raised platform or sturdy boxes with the load hanging freely between your feet.
  2. Set your feet shoulder width apart and brace your core, letting the belt's connection point hang straight down without swinging.
  3. Bend your knees and push your hips back to squat down, keeping your torso upright as the hanging load pulls straight down beneath you.
  4. Lower until your thighs are near parallel to the platform, feeling the work isolated through your quadriceps and glutes.
  5. Drive through your feet to stand back up, exhaling as you extend your hips and knees against the hanging resistance.
  6. Avoid letting the load swing forward or back, and keep it hanging directly beneath your hips throughout the rep.
