Band Sumo Squat

How to do it

  1. Loop a resistance band around your thighs just above the knees, or step on it, and set your feet in a wide sumo stance with toes turned outward roughly 45 degrees.
  2. Hold your hands together at your chest or grip the band ends at hip height and brace your core.
  3. Bend your knees and sit your hips straight down, pressing your knees outward against the band tension to engage your glutes and quadriceps.
  4. Lower until your thighs are near parallel to the floor while keeping your torso upright and chest tall.
  5. Drive through your full foot to stand back up, exhaling as you press your knees out against the band.
  6. Avoid letting your knees cave inward against the band resistance during the ascent.
