Strength exercise
Band Squat (Assisted)
How to do it
- Anchor a resistance band to a point above you and step under it so it loops across your upper back or hips, providing upward assistance.
- Stand with feet shoulder width apart directly beneath the anchor point and settle the band snugly before beginning.
- Bend your knees and sit your hips back into the squat, letting the band's upward pull support you through the deepest part of the range.
- Descend to your full comfortable depth, keeping your quadriceps and glutes working even though the band reduces the load at the bottom.
- Drive through your feet to stand, exhaling as you complete the assisted rep with a controlled tempo.
- Keep the ascent controlled and deliberate instead of letting the band bounce you up.
