Strength exercise

Band Squat

How to do it

  1. Stand on the center of a resistance band with feet shoulder width apart and hold the handles or band ends at shoulder height with elbows tucked in.
  2. Brace your core and pull your shoulders back so the band sits secure before you start moving.
  3. Bend your knees and push your hips back to lower into the squat, feeling the band tension build against your quadriceps and glutes.
  4. Lower until your thighs approach parallel to the floor while keeping your knees tracking over your toes.
  5. Drive through your heels to extend your hips and knees back to standing, exhaling as you push against the band.
  6. Keep your chest lifted and avoid letting the band pull your torso forward as you stand.
