Strength exercise

Band Monster Walk

How to do it

  1. Loop a resistance band around both legs just above the ankles and stand with your feet set slightly wider than hip width.
  2. Sink into a wide partial squat with your chest up, keeping steady outward tension on the band so it never goes slack.
  3. Brace your core, then take a large diagonal step forward and out with one foot, driving from the glute and hip to hold the band stretched.
  4. Step the other foot forward and out on its own diagonal, squeezing the glute of each leg as it plants to keep the wide stance and band tension.
  5. Exhale on each forward step and inhale as you settle, moving at a deliberate controlled pace for the set number of steps before walking the pattern back.
  6. Keep the stance wide and the knees pressed out, avoiding letting the feet drift together or the knees collapse inward as you walk.
