Strength exercise
Vertical Jump
How to do it
- Stand with feet hip width apart, knees soft, arms relaxed at your sides.
- Sink into a quarter squat, loading the quadriceps and gluteus maximus while keeping the chest tall.
- Drive through the whole foot and swing the arms upward as you extend the hips, knees, and ankles explosively.
- Snap through the calves at the top to leave the ground with a full body extension.
- Land softly on the balls of the feet and roll back through the heels, re-bending the knees to absorb impact.
- Reset fully between reps rather than chaining jumps, avoiding a collapsed landing with the knees caving inward.
