Strength exercise

Standing Long Jump

How to do it

  1. Stand with feet shoulder-width apart at the takeoff line, knees soft and arms relaxed behind you.
  2. Swing the arms back while bending the knees and hips into a quarter squat to load the jump.
  3. Swing the arms forward explosively and extend through the quadriceps, glutes, and calves to drive off the ground.
  4. Reach the legs forward in the air to maximize distance before the landing.
  5. Land softly on both feet with bent knees, absorbing the impact through the same muscles used to take off.
  6. Exhale on the jump and stick the landing without stepping forward to complete the rep.
