Cardio exercise
Stair Master
How to do it
- Step onto the machine and select an interval based program that alternates faster and slower stepping segments.
- Drive through the quadriceps and gluteus maximus on the harder segments to raise the pace above the baseline.
- Ease off to a controlled recovery step during the easier segments while keeping the feet fully planted on each pedal.
- Push through the calves at the top of each step to keep power moving through the whole foot.
- Keep the hands resting lightly on the rails rather than supporting weight through the arms.
- Match the breathing to the effort surges, working harder on the fast segments and recovering on the easy ones.
