Flexibility exercise

Shoulder Stretch (Overhead)

How to do it

  1. Stand or sit tall and interlace the fingers in front of the body with palms facing away.
  2. Raise both arms overhead in one smooth motion, straightening the elbows as the arms reach toward the ceiling.
  3. Rotate the palms fully upward once the arms are overhead, reaching a little taller through the fingertips.
  4. Feel a stretch through both shoulders and down the sides of the torso while keeping the ribs from flaring, breathing evenly.
  5. Hold the position for 20 to 30 seconds, keeping the arms close to the ears.
  6. Lower the arms slowly back to the sides to release and unclasp the hands.
