Strength exercise
Arnold Press
How to do it
- Sit on a bench with back support, holding a dumbbell in each hand at shoulder height with the palms facing the body.
- Brace the core and press the dumbbells up and slightly forward while rotating the palms to face away from the body.
- Continue pressing until the arms are fully extended overhead with the palms forward and the dumbbells nearly touching.
- Pause briefly at the top, keeping the shoulders pulled down away from the ears.
- Reverse the path on the way down, rotating the palms back to face the body as the elbows bend to shoulder height.
- Control the rotation through a 4 count descent so the shoulders, not momentum, drive the movement.
