Strength exercise

Shoulder Press Machine (Seated)

How to do it

  1. Sit in the shoulder press machine with the back flat against the pad and the seat height set so the handles sit level with the shoulders.
  2. Grip the handles with hands just outside shoulder width and plant the feet flat on the floor.
  3. Brace the core and press the handles straight overhead, driving through the shoulders until the arms are extended without locking the elbows hard.
  4. Lower the handles back down under control until the elbows sit just below shoulder height.
  5. Exhale on the press up and inhale on the way down.
  6. Keep the head neutral and avoid arching the lower back off the pad to finish the rep.
