Strength exercise

Scissors Jump

How to do it

  1. Start in a split stance with one foot forward and one foot back, both knees bent to roughly 90 degrees.
  2. Brace the core and swing the arms back to load the jump.
  3. Drive through the quadriceps and glutes to jump straight up, switching the front and back leg position in midair.
  4. Push off through the balls of the feet and calves as you leave the ground.
  5. Land softly with the opposite leg forward, exhaling on impact and absorbing it through the ankle, knee, and hip.
  6. Sink immediately into the next split squat depth rather than landing stiff legged before driving into the following jump.
