Strength exercise
Pike Jump
How to do it
- Stand tall with feet hip width apart and arms relaxed at the sides.
- Bend the knees and hips into a quarter squat to load the legs before jumping.
- Drive through the quadriceps, glutes, and calves to jump straight up while lifting both legs out in front.
- Reach the hands toward the shins or toes at the peak of the jump, folding briefly at the hips into a pike shape.
- Extend the legs back down and land softly on the balls of the feet, bending the knees to absorb the landing.
- Reset to the standing position between reps before starting the next jump.
