Strength exercise

Jump Squat

How to do it

  1. Stand with feet shoulder width apart and your arms relaxed at your sides or bent in front of your chest.
  2. Brace your core and bend your knees to drop into a quarter squat, loading your quadriceps and glutes for the jump.
  3. Drive explosively through your feet and extend your hips, knees, and ankles to launch off the ground.
  4. Swing your arms upward as you leave the floor to add drive, keeping your torso tall through the jump.
  5. Land softly on the balls of your feet and roll into your heels, immediately bending your knees to absorb the impact through your quadriceps and calves.
  6. Avoid landing with stiff, locked knees, since a soft landing keeps the next rep controlled.
