Strength exercise
Hurdle Hop
How to do it
- Set up a line of low hurdles spaced one comfortable jump apart and stand facing the first one with feet hip width apart.
- Bend the knees and hips into a quarter squat to load the quadriceps and glutes before each jump.
- Swing the arms upward and extend through the hips, knees, and ankles to hop both feet over the hurdle together.
- Land softly on the balls of the feet with knees slightly bent, absorbing the impact through the calves before the next hop.
- Keep the chest up and eyes forward through each hop rather than looking down at the hurdle.
- Move from one hurdle to the next with a brief, controlled pause on landing before driving into the following rep.
