Strength exercise
Dumbbell High Pull
How to do it
- Stand with feet shoulder-width apart holding a dumbbell in each hand in front of your thighs, palms facing your body.
- Brace the core and hinge slightly at the hips before driving the movement upward.
- Pull the dumbbells up along the body by leading with the elbows, raising them above shoulder height while keeping the weights close.
- Let the trapezius and shoulders drive the top of the pull, keeping the wrists relaxed and the elbows higher than the hands.
- Exhale as you pull upward and inhale as you lower the dumbbells back to the thighs.
- A common fault is swinging the torso to generate momentum, keep the pull driven by the shoulders and upper back.
