Strength exercise
Drop Jump
How to do it
- Stand on top of a raised platform set to a moderate height, toes near the edge.
- Step off the platform and land on the balls of both feet, absorbing the drop with a brief bend of the hips and knees.
- The instant your feet touch down, rebound into a quick jump, keeping ground contact time as short as possible.
- Land the rebound jump softly, then reset for the next repetition rather than chaining jumps together.
- Exhale sharply as your feet contact the floor and again as you rebound upward.
- A common fault is spending too long absorbing the landing, aim for a fast, reactive push off the floor.
