Strength exercise

Depth Drop

How to do it

  1. Stand on top of a raised platform set to a comfortable step-off height, toes near the edge.
  2. Step off the platform, rather than jumping up, so gravity carries you down to the floor.
  3. Land on the balls of both feet at the same time, sinking into the hips and knees to absorb the impact.
  4. Keep the chest up and the knees tracking over the toes as you settle into the landing.
  5. Exhale sharply on contact with the floor to help brace the core through the landing.
  6. A common fault is landing stiff-legged, keep the ankles, knees, and hips soft throughout the landing.
