Cable Lateral Raise

How to do it

  1. Stand sideways next to a low cable pulley and grip the handle with the arm nearest the machine, feet shoulder width apart.
  2. Keep a slight bend in the elbow and let the arm hang across the front of the body as the starting position.
  3. Raise the arm out to the side against the cable tension until it reaches about shoulder height, driving through the side of the shoulder.
  4. Pause briefly at the top without shrugging the shoulder up toward the ear.
  5. Lower the handle back down under control, inhaling on the descent and exhaling on the raise.
  6. Keep the torso still throughout and avoid using body momentum to swing the arm upward.
