Strength exercise
Cable Lateral Raise
How to do it
- Stand sideways next to a low cable pulley and grip the handle with the arm nearest the machine, feet shoulder width apart.
- Keep a slight bend in the elbow and let the arm hang across the front of the body as the starting position.
- Raise the arm out to the side against the cable tension until it reaches about shoulder height, driving through the side of the shoulder.
- Pause briefly at the top without shrugging the shoulder up toward the ear.
- Lower the handle back down under control, inhaling on the descent and exhaling on the raise.
- Keep the torso still throughout and avoid using body momentum to swing the arm upward.
