Strength exercise
Cable Kickback
How to do it
- Attach an ankle cuff to a low pulley, face the machine, and brace your forearms against the frame with elbows bent for a stable base.
- Hinge forward at the hips to about a 45 degree torso angle and brace your core, keeping the arms fixed to stabilize through the triceps.
- Drive the working leg back and up with the knee softly bent, squeezing the gluteus maximus through a slow two count.
- Hold briefly at the top before returning the leg with control over a slow three count, resisting the cable the entire way.
- Exhale as you drive back and inhale on the slow return, keeping the hips square to the machine.
- Avoid rushing the tempo or letting the knee snap straight; keep the pace deliberate throughout the set.
