Cable Kickback

How to do it

  1. Attach an ankle cuff to a low pulley, face the machine, and brace your forearms against the frame with elbows bent for a stable base.
  2. Hinge forward at the hips to about a 45 degree torso angle and brace your core, keeping the arms fixed to stabilize through the triceps.
  3. Drive the working leg back and up with the knee softly bent, squeezing the gluteus maximus through a slow two count.
  4. Hold briefly at the top before returning the leg with control over a slow three count, resisting the cable the entire way.
  5. Exhale as you drive back and inhale on the slow return, keeping the hips square to the machine.
  6. Avoid rushing the tempo or letting the knee snap straight; keep the pace deliberate throughout the set.
