Strength exercise

Broad Jump

How to do it

  1. Stand with feet hip width apart, knees soft, and arms hanging relaxed at your sides.
  2. Bend the knees and hips into a quarter squat while swinging the arms backward to load the jump.
  3. Drive the arms forward and extend the hips, knees, and ankles forcefully to project the body forward through the air.
  4. Land with both feet together, bending the knees and hips to absorb the impact through the quadriceps and glutes.
  5. Hold the landing position briefly before resetting for the next repetition.
  6. Keep the chest up on landing and avoid letting the knees collapse inward, a common fault that loads the calves and ankles unevenly.
