Strength exercise

Underhand Lat Pulldown

How to do it

  1. Sit at the machine with the thighs secured and take an underhand grip on the bar just inside shoulder width.
  2. Set the starting position with the arms extended and a slight backward lean of the torso.
  3. Pull the bar down toward the upper chest, keeping the elbows tucked close to the ribs.
  4. Let the biceps assist while the back drives the bulk of the pulling motion.
  5. Extend back up under control to a full stretch before starting the next rep.
  6. Keep the movement steady and avoid using a hard swing of the torso to start the pull.
