Strength exercise

Step-up (Bodyweight)

How to do it

  1. Stand facing a sturdy box or bench set to about knee height.
  2. Place one foot fully flat on the box surface and brace the core.
  3. Press through the planted foot, driving through the quadriceps, to step up onto the box.
  4. Bring the trailing leg up to a light tap at the top rather than pushing off the ground with it.
  5. Step back down with control, leading with the same foot that stepped up.
  6. Keep the movement steady rather than lunging forward, letting the working leg do the lifting.
