Strength exercise

Snatch Pull (From Blocks)

How to do it

  1. Set the bar on blocks at about mid-shin height and take a wide snatch grip with the hips set slightly higher than a floor pull.
  2. Brace the core and settle the shoulders over the bar with the back flat before initiating the pull from the elevated start.
  3. Extend the knees and hips together off the blocks, keeping the bar traveling close to the legs.
  4. Accelerate through the thighs and finish with a full triple extension of the ankles, knees, and hips, shrugging tall at the top.
  5. Keep the arms long and relaxed throughout so the glutes and quadriceps drive the movement rather than an early arm bend.
  6. Return the bar to the blocks under control between reps, keeping the starting back angle consistent with a floor pull so the elevated start does not turn into a shortened, weaker range.
