Strength exercise

Single Arm Cable Row

How to do it

  1. Stand or sit facing a low pulley, gripping a single handle attachment in one hand with the opposite hand braced on the machine or knee.
  2. Set the feet in a staggered stance for stability, torso upright and core braced.
  3. Pull the handle back toward the ribs, driving the elbow behind the torso to work the back and biceps on that side.
  4. Resist the torso rotating toward the working arm as the pull happens, keeping the hips and shoulders square.
  5. Pause with the shoulder blade pulled back before extending the arm forward under control.
  6. Finish all reps on one side before switching, exhaling on the pull and inhaling on the return.
