Strength exercise
Lunge (Clock)
How to do it
- Stand on one leg with hands on your hips or holding added resistance at your sides, picturing a clock face on the floor around your standing foot.
- Brace your core and step your free leg forward to the 12 o'clock position, bending both knees into a lunge.
- Press back to standing, then step the same leg out to the 3 o'clock position for a lateral lunge.
- Press back to standing again, then step the same leg back to the 6 o'clock position for a reverse lunge.
- Keep the knee of your standing leg soft and your torso upright as you cycle through each clock position.
- A common fault is letting the standing knee cave inward during each step, so keep it tracking over your standing foot throughout.
