Strength exercise
Good Morning
How to do it
- Stand tall with feet hip width apart, resting a supported load evenly across the back of the shoulders.
- Brace the core and set a soft bend in the knees, keeping this knee angle fixed for the entire rep.
- Push the hips straight back while hinging the torso forward, feeling the load stretch into the biceps femoris.
- Lower the torso until it is roughly parallel with the floor or as far as the hamstrings allow while keeping the spine neutral.
- Inhale on the way down and drive the hips forward to stand back up, exhaling as the hamstrings contract to finish the rep.
- Keep the chest lifted and the shins vertical throughout, avoiding any rounding of the low back at the bottom.
