Strength exercise

Good Morning

How to do it

  1. Stand tall with feet hip width apart, resting a supported load evenly across the back of the shoulders.
  2. Brace the core and set a soft bend in the knees, keeping this knee angle fixed for the entire rep.
  3. Push the hips straight back while hinging the torso forward, feeling the load stretch into the biceps femoris.
  4. Lower the torso until it is roughly parallel with the floor or as far as the hamstrings allow while keeping the spine neutral.
  5. Inhale on the way down and drive the hips forward to stand back up, exhaling as the hamstrings contract to finish the rep.
  6. Keep the chest lifted and the shins vertical throughout, avoiding any rounding of the low back at the bottom.
