Strength exercise

Medicine Ball Slam (Side to Side)

How to do it

  1. Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, holding the medicine ball with both hands at one shoulder to begin the set.
  2. Brace the core and rotate slightly toward the loaded side before driving the ball downward and across.
  3. Slam the ball down to the floor on the opposite side of your body, rotating through the core and shoulders as the arms finish low.
  4. Bend the knees to retrieve the rebound on that side, then rise and carry the ball across to the opposite shoulder to begin the next rep.
  5. Exhale on each downward slam and inhale as you reset the ball at the shoulder before switching sides.
  6. Keep the rotation coming from the torso and hips rather than just the arms, since arm-only twisting is the common fault in this variation.
