Strength exercise
Log Clean and Press
How to do it
- Stand over the log bar with feet hip width apart, gripping the neutral handles and hinging at the hips to set your back flat.
- Drive through your legs and hips to pull the log up and rotate it onto your shoulders in one motion, absorbing it with a slight knee bend.
- Reset your stance with feet shoulder width apart, the log resting across your shoulders and chest.
- Dip your knees, then drive through your legs and hips to press the log overhead until your arms lock out, working the shoulders, gluteus maximus, quadriceps, and core.
- Lower the log back to your shoulders under control, then set it back to the floor between reps.
- Keep your torso upright through the clean phase rather than rounding your back to muscle the log off the floor.
