Strength exercise

Tibialis Raise

How to do it

  1. Stand with the back against a wall and heels a short distance out, feet flat on the floor.
  2. Brace the core and keep the knees straight but not locked throughout the set.
  3. Lift the toes and the front of the feet up off the floor as high as possible, working the tibialis anterior.
  4. Pause briefly at the top of the raise with the shins fully flexed.
  5. Lower the toes back down under control until they lightly touch the floor again.
  6. Exhale as the toes lift and inhale as they lower, avoiding the common fault of rocking the hips forward to assist the raise.
