Flexibility exercise

Static Stretching

How to do it

  1. Choose a muscle group to stretch and move slowly into a lengthened position for that area.
  2. Ease into the stretch only until mild tension is felt, stopping well short of any sharp or straining sensation.
  3. Settle into a completely still position without bouncing, pulsing, or adding extra movement.
  4. Feel a steady, even stretch in the targeted muscle while breathing slowly and letting the muscle lengthen further with each exhale.
  5. Hold the still position for 20 to 30 seconds, keeping the joint angle constant throughout.
  6. Slowly release out of the position and return the limb or torso to a neutral, resting position.
