Strength exercise

Marble Pickup (Foot)

How to do it

  1. Sit in a chair with feet flat on the floor and a small pile of marbles or similar small objects placed beside one foot.
  2. Brace the standing posture through the hips and keep the working leg still except at the ankle and toes.
  3. Curl the toes downward to grip a single marble, engaging the muscles along the sole and underside of the foot.
  4. Lift the foot slightly and move the marble to a separate container before releasing your toes' grip.
  5. Breathe normally and at a steady pace throughout, resetting the foot flat between each pickup.
  6. Keep the movement isolated to the toes and forefoot rather than lifting the whole leg, which is the common fault to avoid.
