Flexibility exercise

Active Stretching

How to do it

  1. Move into the desired stretch position using only the opposing muscle group's contraction, without external assistance.
  2. Extend the limb until light tension builds in the target area, keeping the working muscle engaged to hold the range.
  3. Keep the joint stacked in proper alignment rather than letting it rotate or collapse to fake extra range.
  4. Breathe steadily, allowing the tension to settle without adding a bounce or a pulse.
  5. Hold the position for about 15 to 20 seconds while maintaining the active muscle contraction throughout.
  6. Release slowly by relaxing the contracting muscle and returning the limb to the starting position.
