Flexibility exercise
Active Stretching
How to do it
- Move into the desired stretch position using only the opposing muscle group's contraction, without external assistance.
- Extend the limb until light tension builds in the target area, keeping the working muscle engaged to hold the range.
- Keep the joint stacked in proper alignment rather than letting it rotate or collapse to fake extra range.
- Breathe steadily, allowing the tension to settle without adding a bounce or a pulse.
- Hold the position for about 15 to 20 seconds while maintaining the active muscle contraction throughout.
- Release slowly by relaxing the contracting muscle and returning the limb to the starting position.
